Direct: y = kx. Inverse: y = k/x. Square: y = kx². Inverse square: y = k/x². Square root: y = k√x.
Scale 1:n means 1 cm on the map represents n cm in real life. Convert cm to km using 100,000 cm = 1 km. Area scales by n².
Percentage change = (new − original) ÷ |original| × 100%. Reverse percentage divides the final value by its multiplier. Compound growth adds interest at the end of each period; simple growth does not.
